Your inspections stay on this device
Roadmela runs in your browser. There is no account, database or server-side form, and nothing you enter is sent to Roadmela or anyone else.
What is stored, and where
- Current inspection — vehicle details, check results, defect notes and sign-off fields are saved in this browser's local storage so you can resume after closing the page.
- Photos — when you add a photo to a defect, the file you choose is resized in the browser and saved in local storage on this device. It is never uploaded. Photos are only added to a print or PDF if you leave "Attach photos" switched on.
- History — inspections you save to history are kept in local storage on this device until you delete them.
The local storage keys are twVehicleCheckV1 (current inspection), twVehicleCheckPhotosV1 (photos) and twVehicleCheckHistoryV1 (history).
PDF, CSV, inspection-log, full JSON backup and print output are generated in the browser. Imported CSV and backup files are read in the browser and not uploaded.
Backups and moving your records
Use “Download full backup” to keep the current inspection, saved history and photos together. On another device, browser or domain, use “Restore backup” and review the file before confirming. Restoring replaces the records in that browser; it does not merge them. A CSV or inspection-log file does not contain a complete photo and history backup.
Backup files are not encrypted. They may contain driver and vehicle details, notes and photos, so store and share them privately. During a restore, a temporary local recovery copy protects the previous records if writing fails or the page closes. It is removed when the restore or recovery completes.
Removing your data
Delete entries from the history list, remove photos from a defect, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. On a shared device, clear site data when you finish. Clearing site data removes the draft, photos and history permanently, so download a full backup first. Deleting browser data does not delete backup files you have downloaded; remove those separately if no longer needed.
Hosting and scripts
Google Analytics is not used on this website. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes technical request data. If the host enables Cloudflare Web Analytics, it measures visits and performance, not the text, files or data entered in the tool. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical request data such as IP address and browser type.
